Residential vs Commercial Pressure Washing

April 5, 2023

When it comes to cleaning surfaces, pressure washing is a highly effective method that can be used for both residential and commercial properties. However, the pressure washing process can differ between these two types of properties due to their varying sizes and materials.

Both residential and commercial pressure washing can provide numerous benefits, such as improving the property's appearance, increasing its value, and removing potentially harmful substances like mold and mildew.

However, the approach taken to pressure washing must be tailored to the property's specific needs, making it important to understand the differences between residential and commercial pressure washing.

Let's explore the key distinctions between these two types of pressure washing and provide insights into which one may be the best fit for your property.

Residential vs. Commercial Pressure Washing: What’s the difference

Even if they both work in the same way, several circumstances make it evident why they shouldn't be compared as being the same.

Power Capacity

Residential washers can handle water pressure anywhere from 1400 PSI to 3000 PSI, but commercial washers can handle water pressure anywhere from 10000 PSI to 25000 PSI.

Productivity

Household washers are better suited to cleaning surfaces ranging from 1000 to 4000 square feet before the engine overheats. On the other hand, commercial washers have a large cleaning capacity of up to 30 square feet each cycle.

Longevity

Despite their modest size, most home pressure washers have a standard metal or plastic body. On the other hand, commercial pressure washers always have anti-corrosive alloy encasing on the body, making them far more durable and protected.

Industrial washers usually include an auto power cut-off option, which most domestic washers do not have.

Water temperature

Home washers utilize cold water, but commercial washers employ a variety of modes, such as hot water spray, cold water spray, or combination force, depending on the scenario.

Steam cleaning is an option on certain Spray washers. Yet, these washers are a combination of residential and commercial washers rather than being solely residential. These are referred to as hybrid washers and are appropriate for modest office buildings and residential complexes.

Workability

Commercial washers often feature a longer hose with a wide range of nozzle sizes since they need to clean greater areas with considerably dirtier surrounds. Also, compared to residential washers, commercial washers often need much less heating time.

Household washers need 45 seconds to 2 minutes to reach the same temperature as commercial washers, which take 12 to 20 seconds.

Operability

Electricity or gasoline are the only two fuel types for pressure washers. As electrical devices inside are significantly safer than gas-powered ones, pressure washers for residential use are typically electric-powered.

Industrial complexes need greater engine power since they need to cover wider regions. Because of this, commercial washers are often powered by gasoline or, sometimes, a hybrid.

Even if it is used to clean a residential property, one could believe that getting a pressure washer of commercial quality is preferable. But it's not quite that easy. Commercial pressure washers are a little trickier to use and need specialized skills.

Conclusion

While residential and commercial pressure washing share similarities in terms of their benefits and effectiveness, they also have significant differences that must be considered. Residential pressure washing is typically focused on smaller-scale cleaning tasks and can be done with equipment more suited to home use.

Commercial pressure washing, on the other hand, often requires more powerful and specialized equipment to tackle larger surfaces, higher volumes of traffic, and a wider variety of materials.

Whether you want to maintain your home's appearance or keep your commercial property clean and safe for customers and employees, pressure washing can be a valuable tool. Austin pressure washing provides all kinds of professional pressure washers. They also have pressure washer components to maintain your machinery functioning as it should.
