The Jackson house is a well-known historic building in Tampa that played an essential role during segregation. It's also famous as Jackson Rooming house. Furthermore, it was established and owned by Sarah and Moses Jackson. During the segregation era, it served as accommodation for African-Americans. At that time, they were not welcomed in top-notch hotels. So, it provided residences to them. Probably, at that, time, this was the single place in Tampa where African-Americans could reside. Count Basie and James Brown were among those famous personalities who stayed here as well. The business closed down in 1989.
