John Travolta is a well-known American actor, producer, and singer who rose to fame in the 1970s with his role in the television series "Welcome Back, Kotter." He then became a household name with his performances in hit movies like "Saturday Night Fever," "Grease," and "Pulp Fiction." Travolta's acting career has spanned over four decades, and he has received numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination. In addition to his acting talents, he is also known for his love of aviation. His love of flying airplanes started at a young age. He dreamed of one day owning a home in which he could park his airplanes in his driveway. That might seem like an unrealistic dream of a child, however Travolta actually made it a reality. “Yesterday we left the house, kissed the kids goodbye, then we went into the back yard, got in a jet and flew to London. That was pretty cool.” Pretty cool indeed, John.

John Travolta's home, if you can even call it that, is a site to be seen. It’s equal parts mansion and airport. The property sits on 847,677 sq feet of land. There is a jumbo 3,600 foot aircraft runway that cost about $6 million to build. There are multiple properties on this land, besides the main residence. There is even a tennis court, a 16 car garage, as well as multiple places to land John’s multiple planes.
“I've always thought that as long as I did the right things and had the right intentions, everything would fall into place.” I must not be doing the right things because I’m nowhere near the ability to purchase a mansion with my very own airplane runway. “Money and power come as a byproduct of things well done.” I must not be doing things well.
John and his late wife, actor Kelly Preston, purchased this land back in 2001. They then completed construction on the home in 2003. Adding other properties on the land over the years. Including an 8,700 sq ft conference center. The 16 car garage has since been converted into a full gym, while the pool house has been turned into a full on game room.

The exterior of John’s home is incredible. There are not only one but two landing docks to keep the planes when not in use. The massive mansion was designed by architect Dana Smith. It is made up of concrete, painted crisp white. There are Grecian white concrete pillars, as well as large circular wall windows. The wall of windows not only lets the natural sunlight fill up the space inside the home, but it also allows for you to see every inch of the incredible interior from any point within the home. What's the point of being able to park your airplanes in your driveway if you can’t sit back and view them from the comfort of your living room?

This room was once the pool house. Situated right beside the pool outside, it has since been turned into a game room. It gives off a 1960s vibe, with brick walls and brown concrete flooring. As well as brown wooden siding to match the floors. The room features a pool table in the middle of the room, with a fully stocked bar to the side. There is even a mini kitchen area with a full side refrigerator and oven. Multiple unique lighting fixtures also adorn the ceiling and walls.

The 1960s vibe also carries over to the interior of the home. There is a small circular breakfast table, complemented with yellow plush modern chairs. The breakfast area is located off of the kitchen, of course, and right by the driveway. With the wall of windows, you get an up close and personal view of one of the airplanes. It makes you feel as if you are actually outside enjoying the space.

The breakfast nook isn’t the only space within the home that you can enjoy the outstanding exterior views. Inside there is a large, modern living space. With the floor to ceiling, circular windows, recessed lighting, and low hanging ceiling fans, you feel as if you are in some sort of pan am first class lounge. Especially because from this room you are able to see the second plane parking space.

John Travolta’s childhood dream was to own a home large enough to park his airplanes in the driveway. After getting his pilot's license at the age of 22, and purchasing his own airplanes, it seems his dreams came true. I guess in his case, it goes to show that dreams can come true, big or small.
