A rumored first-person mode is coming to Fortnite in Chapter 4, Season 2. When can we expect this game mode to go live?
Fortnite has been solely on 3rd person view since its release in 2017. While Epic games introduced a lot of new things for players to experience, the first-person perspective was never one of them. There was a way to force this mode, but it was eventually disabled and unavailable. However, news has been that devs are finally set on introducing a pure FPS POV to Fortnite accounts during Chapter 4 Season 2.
Rumored First-Person Mode
Unlike most battle royale games, Fortnite is the only prominent, if not the only, game that uses a third-person perspective in all its game modes. Other BRs in the genre, like Call of Duty, Apex Legends, and PUBG, have all used first-person view as the standard in any of their games. The lack of an FPS option has made it hard for some players to transfer their skills to the popular shoot-and-build game. Fortunately, Season 2 of Chapter 4 will allegedly introduce more than just additional skins to the Fortnite item shop.
Chapter 4, Season 2, "Mega," has a cyberpunk feel and brings neon-colored aesthetics into the map. While many players were thrilled about the latest theme, some were more interested in the news of an upcoming FPS mode. This information was shared by known Fortnite leakers HYPEX and ShiinaBR. Both stated that they received words about a potential first-person view coming to the game as soon as the new season arrived.
Unfortunately, Season 2 has already rolled in, yet the rumored FPS mode is nowhere in sight. In addition, Epic games have yet to post or offer an official confirmation about the rumor, so it is unclear if it is authentic. However, the leakers have been reliable sources for the past few years that they have been active, so it is unlikely that this news is a hoax. If there is an upcoming FPS setting, it might arrive later this season.
It is still being determined how well FPS will work in Fortnite as players have gotten used to not having it for so long. In addition, the game's build mode might not synergize well with this setting. Fortunately, other features like Zero-Build won't have this problem. It would be interesting to see how Epic Games will integrate the first-person view into the game.
Can You Play First-Person Now in Fortnite?
As mentioned earlier, the first-person mode has yet to go online or even be confirmed by Epic Games. The previous method of forcing the game into this perspective is no longer viable. However, some guns offer players a taste of FPS. One of the several weapons introduced in Chapter 3 allowed gamers to aim down their sights. This was the closest thing fans ever had to an official FPS mode.
There is no possible way to play genuinely in first-person mode. Players will have to wait for other patches and announcements from Epic Games. In the meantime, Season 2 has a lot of other cool stuff that fans might enjoy as they log in to Fortnite.
Neon Lights and New Collabs
The "Mega" update has significantly changed the map's appearance. While the geographical layout is virtually the same, players can spot several areas fitted with neon lights and futuristic designs that seem to have some Japanese elements. This setting allows players to live out their Blade Runner fantasies.
Aside from the new aesthetic, we also get many new collaborations this season. Attack on Titan's Eren Yeager will be coming to the battle pass and will be available starting April 15. Players can start grinding the season pass to use Eren's skin immediately when it goes live. Some are still hoping that Mikasa Ackerman will also make an appearance during the collaboration event.
Another Fortnite x Resident Evil event also occurred at the start of the season. RE4's Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield are now available in the item shop. This crossover takes place in anticipation of the upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake.
While we wait for further details about the upcoming FPS mode, players should explore the new update as tons of new stuff awaits them. There are new vehicles, new weapons, and even an additional city. Hop on to your Fortnite account and see what the vibrant neon-themed "Mega" update offers.
