Warning: subject to change and may not reflect the final product.
Battlestate Games has yet to give a roadmap for the game, but the wiki lists the various things they plan. There won’t be an ETA for these, and they might not even come up in the final product. Still, knowing about these to-be-prepared Tarkov items and features can hype you up for the game, despite not knowing when they’ll go live.
Planned Items in Escape from Tarkov
Weapons
In the wiki, this necessitated a new page to list. So many weapons are planned for the game; listing them all would take a while. There are rifles, pistols, submachine guns, and more. They also come in various calibers and bullets, so there’s more to collect or favor in the days to come.

Gear or Equipment
Escape from Tarkov could have some nifty gadgets you can use. One is a SPHERE Wireless Exploration Device, a ball of cameras you can remote control. A pair of binoculars for surveying the area might also come to the game. Throwable chem lights, a 1PN138 Night Scope, some C4, GPS, IMP mine detectors, and a SAVI echo point may be usable soon. Lastly, you can hide behind some ballistic shields in later patches.
There are several body armors planned as well. A black version of the Highcom Trooper TFO armor, other versions of 6B23-1, and a 6B10 armor vest can be added to the game. Some other chest rigs, backpacks, headwear, and containers will also be added.
Locations
Four locations are planned for the game, a Town, a Terminal, the Suburbs, and the Private sector. These will be new places to gather loot from and hunt bosses down. Speaking of bosses, there will also be new ones in these locations, which are unique challenges to overcome. There are also new extraction points to discover and secrets to explore.
Lastly, a location filled with poisonous gas due to radiation is also in the works. This adds the challenge of a time limit in exploration, as spending too long in those areas has a higher risk of dying. Yet, these locations hide the best loot stashes. Delve if you dare.
Game Modes
Aside from the Scav and PMC raiding, other game modes are in the works. An arena that supports 1v1, 2v2, and 5v5 modes is an idea BSG is playing with. There might also be an Open World mode, merging all available maps and having as many as 64 players. That’s almost a battle royale, with the added mechanic of fighting over loot.
A mode where you can play as a Scav boss is an idea they’re bouncing around. It puts a twist to the usual gameplay loop and might be refreshing to play. An offline cinematic mode could open up more creative content for streamers and vloggers. Lastly, a challenge mode of racing to complete as many Tarkov quests as possible
New NPCs
Two new shopkeepers are in the works. They’re called Khokhol and Bashkir. The first is a supplier of foodstuff and water, while the other specializes in under-the-counter items. That’s all that’s been revealed for them, and further details, such as quests and items in stock, are still vague.
Various Game Mechanics
Since the game is still in development (Early Access, as Steam would put it), many features are planned but have yet to be implemented. The highlights are:
- Main storyline quests
- A tutorial system
- A Karma system
- Interactive environment (turning lights, generators, and the like off/on)
- The ability to climb ladders and vault over objects
- Lockpicking with a multitool
- Healing another player
- Traveling to traders for buying/selling
- Ability to kick and knock down people
- Global chat
- Trading with other players
- New skills and special abilities
More are listed. These are just the most pertinent ones. While Escape from Tarkov is playable, it is far from ‘done.’ Aside from these, some DLCs are planned for new weather (seasons), Scav or Sniper-focused quests, and a skyscraper location. If the main storyline quests kick-off, a DLC to expound on those quests is on the table.
Looking Forward to the Improvement of EFT in 2023
Many people are enjoying Escape from Tarkov right now. However, everything mentioned above means waiting a bit more will make experiencing the game even better. There’s going to be a long wait. With no definite announcements or even an estimate, we don’t know when these will be implemented.
All we can do right now, other than wait, is to enjoy raids, improve our Tarkov hideouts, and continue playing EFT (or other games). Have a good 2023!
