Chuck Berry was an American singer, guitarist, songwriter & a pioneer of Rock and Roll music. He died on March 18, 2017 at age 90. He was famous for his hit songs like My Ding a Ling & Hail! Hail! Rock 'N' Roll.

His career spanned more than 60 years. He was also an entrepreneur. He owned a St. Louis nightclub and, in a small town west of the city, property he dubbed Berry Park. It included a home, guitar-shaped swimming pool, restaurant, cottages and a concert venue. He eschewed having a regular band, preferring to hire local musicians willing to work cheap. Bruce Springsteen was among the early ones to back Berry.

He was a tough negotiator, a master of business and a savvy investor who invested in real estate. He reportedly made tens of millions from sales of his recordings and, at times, even earned more than $5 million per year from touring.

He also made wise investments in his family. He married Themetta Suggs, known as Toddy, in 1948 while still working a variety of jobs. The couple eventually had four children: Darlin Ingrid, Aloha Isa Lei, Charles Jr. and Melody Exes. The couple lived in a house situated along Whittier Street. They later moved to a 30-acre spread located in the city of Wentzville. In that house, they had a beautiful guitar-shaped swimming pool. They also had a nice dining room. He was very fond of his children & treated them with great love.
