If you are a fan of the daytime drama The Coroner then you will have probably noticed a lot of our beautiful Devon locations being used as backdrops throughout the show. Filming is taking place in several locations around the region including Totnes, Dartmouth, Hope Cove and Brixham. The Coroner follows former solicitor Jane Kennedy (Claire Goose) returning to her small coastal town of Lighthaven to investigate sudden and unexplained deaths alongside Detective Sergeant Davey Higgins (Matt Bardock) who broke her heart.

The production team was looking for areas with a similar vibe to Lighthaven and found lots of stunning locations across Devon. Dartmouth was used as a location for scenes in both series one and two of the show. The bustling riverside town is renowned for its yachts and the Britannia Royal Naval College which has been training young sailors for generations. The shingle beach at Blackpool Sands and the town’s ferry and waterfront were featured in the series. Lukesland House and Gardens near Dartmouth also features in some scenes of the show.

Hope Cove was also used as a location for the show and is a picturesque sands beach with rocky cliffs and stunning coastal views. The beautiful Bantham estate where the show’s family home is set was also a location for many episodes.

Most of the outdoor scenes in the show are filmed in Toronto, Canada but there are a number of well-known locations that feature too. The iconic TIFF Tower (also known as the Festival Tower) was used for a scene in the first episode.
