Steven D’Shawn Francis better known as steve francis is a former American professional basketball player who carved out a decent nine-year career in the NBA league. He is a three-time NBA All-Star and was the league’s Rookie of the Year in 2000 as he played for the Houston Rockets. He was also the runner-up in one of the most famous Slam Dunk Contests in which he competed against flashy dunker Vince Carter.
Francis started off his career by getting drafted with the second overall pick in the 1999 NBA draft by the Vancouver Grizzlies. However, he openly expressed his disinclination to play for the team and was eventually traded in an 11-player deal to the Houston Rockets. He appeared in 374 games for the Rockets and averaged 19 points per game. He later signed with the Orlando Magic and then the New York Knicks. Francis also made a brief appearance with the Beijing Ducks of the Chinese Basketball Association.
During his illustrious NBA career, Francis earned a total of $103.5 million. In addition to his huge salary, he also earns a good amount of money from endorsement deals with various top brands.
Outside of the basketball court, he is also an active entrepreneur who has ventured into several different businesses including real estate, a restaurant, a financial advisory firm, and a clothing line. He is also the owner of a minor league basketball franchise in The Basketball League along with his former Houston Push teammate Moochie Norris.
