When you watch the show America's Test Kitchen, it is clear that a lot of work goes into making those recipes. From the detailed cooking instructions to the equipment-testing segments, there is a lot of information packed into each episode. And that brings up a question: where is all this filmed?

The answer is not the typical hulking studios you see on TV. In fact, the company has flipped the script for this season of the popular cooking show and is filming all of its episodes from home kitchens. The goal is to bring viewers more intimate, real-world experiences with the cast members and help them make more confident cooks at home.

Bridget Lancaster and Julia Collin Davison, original cast members of America's Test Kitchen and Cook's Country from America's Test Kitchen, are taking the show to a whole new level this season. Instead of filming in the lab, they are doing their cooking and baking at their own homes with only a handful of crew members for support.

While the move to home cooking is a departure from the traditional model, Bishop isn't worried about losing some of the brand's core values in the process. He says he believes in "giving the consumer what they want and need," and he thinks the change will actually increase viewer engagement.

One big difference is that the staff will finally have room to host tours of the facilities, which were impossible in their cramped Brookline Village headquarters. And this fall, the company will also debut a bright red ATK food truck that will serve lunch (and, eventually, cookbooks and other ATK-branded merchandise) to visitors to Boston's Innovation and Design Building.
