There were many skeptics when Fox announced its plans to broadcast its NFL pregame show from Los Angeles instead of New York, but the network was able to set itself apart by adopting a looser and more irreverent approach. The program was the first hour-long pregame show on a broadcast network, and the program also featured comedy picks by comedians such as Jimmy Kimmel, Frank Caliendo, and Rob Riggle. Jillian Barberie provided the weather forecasts each week, and a number of promotional claymation spots were produced for the show as well.
The show continues to honor military members and their families, as the studio team travels to the sites of the week’s top games to salute the troops. Past locations have included U.S. Naval Academy-Annapolis (2021), Marine Corps Air Station Miramar – San Diego (2021), the United States Military Academy – West Point (2019 and 2014), Fort Benning, Naval Station Norfolk, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, and more.
As the 2022 season begins, Michael Strahan will host FOX NFL Sunday alongside Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long as analysts. The show’s original cast is joined by Emmy-nominated host Curt Menefee and former coach Jimmy Johnson, all of whom are former professional football players who have won a national championship as players or coaches.
The show’s new home studio is the new Studio A located at the network’s lot in Los Angeles. The two-story space features a large anchor desk, multiple shooting locations, and leans heavily into LED and augmented-reality graphics and imagery. The studio also has a balcony that offers guests a view of the field while the show is live.
