An unashamed homage to the thrills, spills and giggles of Romancing the Stone (and last year’s Jungle Cruise), The Lost City stars Sandra Bullock as romance novelist Loretta Sage and Channing Tatum as her dimwitted cover model Alan. They’re sent on an exotic island to embody the hero and heroine of their books and find love and adventure in the process. With a lost temple, scheming villain, and exotic locales, the movie has all the hallmarks of an instant classic.

But where was it filmed? The answer is the Dominican Republic. The picturesque Caribbean island was the perfect choice for the film’s equatorial setting and exotic jungles. Moreover, it is one of the few beaches in the world that remains largely untouched by tourism and is home to a diverse array of wildlife.

The island is also home to a number of luxury resorts and is known for its pristine beaches and crystal clear waters. Consequently, many of the scenes in the film were shot on the island’s beautiful shorelines.

For the cave scenes, the filmmakers used several locations in the Dominican Republic. Most notably, they filmed some of the grottos at Los Haitises National Park and a section of a cave called Iguabonita in Scape Park at Cap Cana.

They also filmed the water scenes in a Pinewood Studios studio in Juan Dolio. This famous studio has been a location for numerous movies, including Cruella, No Time To Die, and Belfast.
