With the high-class pedigree of producer (and Oscar winner) David E Kelley, midas-touch writer Liane Moriarty, and a stellar cast anchored by Nicole Kidman, it’s no surprise that Nine Perfect Strangers is a hit. The Hulu miniseries takes place at a boutique health and wellness resort that promises healing and transformation. The only problem is that things aren’t exactly what they seem.

The show’s enigmatic host, Masha, is played by Kidman to perfection and has some unconventional methods of getting her guests relaxed. The premise is that the nine people who arrive at Tranquillum House have enough baggage to sink the Titanic, but they are convinced that their time at the retreat will heal them.

While the fictional Tranquillum House is located in Cabrillo, California, the actual filming took place in Australia. According to Conde Nast Traveller, the majority of the series was shot in Byron Bay, which is known as “Goop-ville” for its wellness scene, and the property used is real. Other locations for flashback scenes included Sydney, Ballina, and Killen Falls.

One of the most memorable scenes in the first episode shows Masha meditating and jumping off the waterfall at Killen Falls in Tintenbar, New South Wales.
