Pawn Stars is a History Channel reality series that follows the day-to-day operations of the World Famous Gold and Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas. Each episode follows the Harrisons, Old Man, and Chumlee as they buy, sell, or pawn items from visitors to the shop. Guests are encouraged to bring in artifacts with historical significance. Each item is carefully analyzed and appraised before either the Harrisons or Old Man decide whether to pawn, purchase, or trade it.
In addition to filming at the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, the show is also filmed at a variety of locations in the area. Many of the featured places are familiar to fans of the show: The D Casino on Fremont Street, The Toy Shack owned by Chumlee's brother Johnny, Count's Kustoms (a car shop often featured in the B-roll of Pawn Stars), and Rick Harrison's Roll'n Smoke BBQ & Tavern.
The cast of Pawn Stars recently filmed at the American Helicopter Museum and Education Center in West Chester, Ohio. The museum's staff tells WKYT that the episode was centered on a helicopter used in the Vietnam War, and it included a fly-in with one of their retired military helicopters.
Another popular location of Pawn Stars is Louisville, Kentucky, where the spin-off "Pawn Stars Do America" will be taping. According to the show's website, each episode of this spin-off will follow Rick Harrison, Corey Harrison, and Austin "Chumlee" Russell as they leave their Las Vegas home to connect with fans in different cities and hunt for items that have historic, monetary, or collectible value.
