A lot of fans of Psych may be surprised to learn that the show wasn’t actually filmed in Santa Barbara, but rather in Vancouver, Canada. This was mainly due to the fact that Vancouver offers very lucrative tax incentives for filming projects.

While the majority of the show was filmed at the studio’s sound stages, to get those big Santa Barbara beachy shots, the cast and crew traveled about 40 minutes south down the I-5 to the city of White Rock. White Rock was able to offer the closest thing to a Santa Barbara coastline in the Vancouver area, so it worked out perfectly for the producers of Psych.

Those who love the show might also be interested to know that a few of the locations have even become tourist attractions in their own right. This is particularly true of 2756 O’Hara Lane and the White Rock Museum and Archives, both of which appear in a number of episodes of the series.

Other places of interest include the apartment building where Lassiter and Juliet run across a suspicious man in episode 4x01, the field where Shawn tries to break up a fight between two guys in episode 6x02, and the restaurant where Gus discovers cheese-infused twice-battered fries in episode 3x14.

All of these locations can be visited by anyone who’s a fan of the show, and they’re all worth visiting for the experience. So if you’re planning on making a trip to Vancouver, be sure to check out some of these locations while you’re there.
