The Repair Shop is one of the UK’s favourite restoration programmes, and it's not hard to see why. Each week viewers are treated to heart-warming stories as members of the public bring in precious heirlooms that need a bit of TLC. Hosted by furniture restorer Jay Blades, a team of experts from various specialisms like metalwork and clocks help owners to revive the pieces with incredible sentimental value. Viewers are left in tears by the end of every episode as they see their beloved items restored to their former glory by skilled professionals.

The show has become an antidote to our throwaway culture and boasts a massive following. Not only does it have a host of celebrity fans - including Dame Judi Dench who appeared in a live session at Edinburgh TV festival - but its expert teams also make you believe that anything can be repaired and restored. This season, the crew has worked on a variety of items such as a writing desk, Jamaican pump organ and a theatre chair from Derby Hippodrome.

But where is the repair shop filmed and can you visit the set? The hit BBC series is filmed at the Weald and Downland Living Museum in Singleton, West Sussex. The 40-acre site is home to a collection of historic rural buildings and showcases heritage farming trades and crafts. The main workshop is a thatched timber framed barn called Court Barn which was built in the late 17th or early 18th century.
