Barbara Walters' Longtime House Is Listed

Barbara Walters was an American journalist and television personality. She was born in Boston on September 25, 1929. Her father was Lou Walters, a nightclub owner and Broadway producer. In 1951 Barbara graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in English from Sarah Lawrence College. After college, she began working at NBC writing press releases. In 1955 she went on to become a writer for The Morning Show at CBS. In 1961 she went back to NBC and worked as a writer for The Today Show. Then in 1971 she began to host her own show, Not for Women Only. Barbara Walters was the first female co-host of a U.S news show. When she went on to sign a five year deal with ABC for $5 million, she became the highest paid news anchor, for both women and men. From 1984 to 2004 she was a correspondent and co-host of 20/20. She was also a co-host of the morning talk show The View, for 25 years. Barbara had such a groundbreaking and long-running career. At the age of 93 she passed away on December 30, 2022. Barbara Walters’ longtime apartment has just been listed for $19.8 million. It is located in an iconic pre-war building on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. Featuring 11 rooms in total, with five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. There are amazing views of Central Park, with 10 foot tall ceilings and large windows. The apartment also features a large library, with built-ins and a cozy bay window. The main bedroom features wood paneling, a wood burning fireplace, and an attached office. The kitchen also has a large window over the sink looking out at the park, as well as a butler's pantry with the laundry room adjacent. The building itself was built in 1925 and has 14 floors, with 14 units. The Italian Renaissance palazzo style building was designed by  architect Nathan Korn. This is the sort of New York City apartment that people dream about.
