As you may have noticed, HGTV has quite a few shows that focus on home renovation and design. While most of these shows tend to follow the same format, one new show has been making waves and is helping people break out of their design comfort zones. The show is called Breaking Bland and it stars interior designer Mary Welch Fox Stasik. In the show, she helps her clients transform their living spaces with bold choices that are more common in big cities like New York.
Despite the fact that she does live in Charleston, Mary travels around the country to film the series for Breaking Bland. The first season of the show is made up of seven episodes and all of them were filmed in various locations throughout the state. The majority of the show was filmed at the Wild Dunes community in Isle of Palms, which is a beautiful area located along the coast. The island is a popular vacation spot for many, and it's also home to a number of golf courses. Filming for the show started in October of 2020 and wrapped earlier this year.
The trailer for the show gives viewers a glimpse into Mary's personality and how she is able to make the transformation from drab to fabulous. While most designers are all about aesthetics and making the space Pinterest board worthy, Mary's goal is to help her clients express their personal style.
Mary has been working as a designer for years and she's brought her experience to HGTV with this new show. She's a Knoxville native and has worked with top designers in New York City and Colorado to further her career.
