The Channel 4 crime drama 'Before We Die' returns with a second series. The show stars Lesley Sharp as DI Hannah Laing, who is tangled up with ruthless gangsters and sneaky moles. She is also dealing with her estranged son and trying to bring him closer to her.
Much of the series is set in Bristol, a coastal city and cultural mecca in southwest England. The cast and crew filmed all over the city to capture its essence. Several sequences were shot in Stokes Croft, the area north of the city center known for its concentration of retailers and bars. York Road in the Montpelier neighborhood, also north of Stokes Croft, has been featured in a number of scenes. The inner suburb of Clifton, especially Victoria Square, has also been used. And Brandon Hill Park and the Cabot Tower on Park Street in central Bristol offer a great view over the city.
Interestingly, the production team has also ventured to international locations in order to aid the show's drug trafficking storyline. Brussels, the capital and historic heart of Belgium, has been used as a location in various scenes. The series' director, Jan Matthys, is Belgian, so it makes sense that the production has strong ties to the country.
The popular show aired its first episode this week and will continue airing weekly on Wednesdays at 9pm on Channel 4. See you there!
