While California may have a well-known moviemaking landscape, Hawaii is no stranger to its filming locations either. The archipelago state has played a starring role in movies like 'Lost' and 'Blue Crush,' but even rom-coms have made use of its tropical charms. One such example is 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall,' which features Jason Segel as a likable composer who heads to the islands to heal from his broken heart and bumps into his ex, Sarah (Kristen Bell), at a resort. Many of the movie's scenes were filmed on Oahu's North Shore, including Turtle Bay Resort.

The filming of Forgetting Sarah Marshall lasted over 30 days, with the majority of scenes recorded at the resort's gorgeous beachfront. A number of shots of Peter and Rachel were shot at Laie Point, which is located a short drive from the hotel. The cliff jumping scene, however, was shot further down the shore at Ehukai Beach Park, where the surf is generally much bigger than at Laie.

The resort also used its front entrance for some of the movie's action, with the real reception area to the left and a fake desk to the right (as seen in the above screencap). The 'kapua suite' that Peter and Sarah stay in is not a real room at the hotel, but was built for the film. The Beach Bungalows, on the other hand, are a real part of the resort and face directly onto the beach. The filming also took place at some of the surrounding North Shore beaches, as well as at a few other locations around Oahu.
