As a spinoff of Breaking Amish, the show follows Amish young people on their rumspringa (the time they get to experience life outside of their community) and what happens when that doesn’t go exactly as planned. While some are able to adjust to life outside of the Amish, others find that keeping their faith is difficult.
The show is filmed in Sarasota, Florida. Many of the original cast members of Breaking Amish returned for this series. The main characters are a mix of Amish and non-Amish. There have been some controversies over the casting of this show. Chapel Peace Schmucker was accused of faking cancer to get on the show, and Rosanna Miller was accused of being addicted to heroin after she left her tight-knit Amish community.
Season 7 of Return to Amish premiered March 14 on TLC. This season will be the final season for Mary Schmucker, who has decided to remain in the Amish community. She and Abe have had a lot of domestic drama since they first appeared on the show. Jeremiah Raber continues to have trouble in his marriage to Carmela and is dealing with a restraining order from his ex-wife, as previously revealed by In Touch.
