Stranger Things has been a big hit for Netflix, but the show is more than just some scary stories in a sleepy small town. Like most TV shows, the series is filmed in locations across the country and even around the world. The latest season of the sci-fi hit takes the cast out of their usual stomping grounds with several new locations that play key roles in the season.

Up until now, the supernatural happenings in Stranger Things have been confined to Hawkins, a fictional Midwestern town, but this time the production team has taken the cast out of the US for the first time. This season, Joyce and Hopper are in Russia, the Byers sons and Eleven are in California, and some of the monsters are even outside the Upside Down. For the new setting, the production team filmed in multiple international locations and a number of domestic ones that were also used in seasons one through three.

The fictional town of Lenora Hills in California was filmed in Albuquerque, with the real-life Eldorado High School serving as the high school that Will and Eleven attend. The iconic roller rink that doubles as Rink-O-Mania was filmed at Roller King, while the 80s dreamscape of the Creel House was shot in the city's infamous 'Lincoln Park' neighborhood.

Other scenes were filmed at the real-life South Bend Pool in Stone Mountain, Georgia, which is located only about a half mile from Screen Gems Studios where most of the interior shots are filmed on soundstages. The actual community pool is open from Tuesday through Saturday and admission costs $5 for people ages six and up.
