When it comes to reality shows, many of them are filmed in major cities like Los Angeles or New York. But one of Netflix's newest hits, The Circle, doesn't follow the norm. In fact, the show is actually filmed in the UK. And that may surprise some fans.

The show follows a group of contestants who are isolated in one-bedroom apartments. They communicate with each other via a social media platform called The Circle, and they catfish each other for the chance to win $100,000.

Unlike some of the other reality competitions on the market, The Circle is unique in that each contestant is in their own apartment, and they can only communicate with the rest of the cast over The Circle app. And for this reason, the contestants must be able to lie to their fellow players.

While the rest of the show takes place in a control room in a separate building, the apartments are fully-furnished and equipped with cameras and TV screens. And they also have an exercise room and a rooftop lounge. And one room in the building — known as 'the testimonial room' — is where blocked players record their goodbye videos to the other players.

While the cast is limited in what they can say about filming, Season 5's Chaz Lawery hinted that they filmed in summer of 2021. And judging by the photos on their Instagram, this likely meant fall of 2020.
