The Netflix original movie titled Honeymoon With My Mother stars Quim Gutierrez as the protagonist Jose Luis. He is a man who was stood up at the altar and now, his mother, Mari Carmen, wants to make sure that he lives all the experiences in life that she can.

The story revolves around the mother and son’s complicated relationship. It also focuses on a number of relatable themes. It is no wonder why it is one of the most watched Spanish films of the year. It is produced by Morena Films, a Spanish production company that has churned out some major hits in the past.

Where Was Honeymoon With My Mother Filmed?

The production team of the film headed to Mauritius for most of the scenes. They primarily filmed the oceanic scenes and interior shots of the hotel in Trou d’Eau Douce, which is located in the eastern part of the island nation. Other important scenes were filmed in the pristine resort of Le Morne.

Besides the main cast members, the movie features a long list of supporting actors including Celia Freijeiro, Andres Velencoso, Edeen Bhugeloo, Jake Francois, Yolanda Ramos, Jorge Suquet, Juanjo Cucalon, and Justina Bustos.

The production of the movie began in January 2020 and was expected to wrap up soon. But, the crew had to delay the shoot due to the COVID-19 pandemic that caused a shutdown of all activities for six months. Once the shoot resumed, one of the actresses in the film, Justina Bustos, fell ill and was diagnosed with the virus. This prevented her from taking part in many of the important scenes. Therefore, the remaining scenes that did not require Justina were filmed in Canary Islands in Spain.
