Check Out Barbara Mandrell's House, The Fontanel Mansion

October 28, 2023

Barbara Mandrell is a retired country music singer. She was born on Christmas in 1948 in Houston, TX, and raised in California. During the 1970’s she had a slew of hits, including the songs "Tonight My Baby's Coming Home", "The Midnight Oil", and "(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right". In 1984 she had a near fatal car accident and almost retired from music. However her love of music persisted, and she continued her successful career with the songs "Fast Lanes and Country Roads" and "I Wish I Could Fall in Love Today". After multiple decades in the music industry, Barbara retired for good in 1997. In 2009, she was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. With a long and successful career as Barbara’s, it’s no surprise she owned a glorious property. Check out Barbara Mandrell’s house, the Fontanel Mansion, below.

In 1988 Barbara Mandrell had a massive log cabin built for her and her family, called the Fontanel Mansion. The family lived in the home until 2002, upon which it was sold to two investors by the names of Dale Morris and Marc Oswald. Under new ownership, the home was used for television and video shoots, such as the television series Gone Country and the film Country Strong. Then in 2010 it was turned into a tourist attraction. In 2016 Dale Morris bought out Marc Oswald for $9.87 million, thus becoming the sole owner. Featuring 186 acres, the Fontanel Mansion includes public walking trails, a bed & breakfast called The Inn, the Carl Black Chevy Woods Amphitheater, and Adventureworks Ziplines. There is also the Natchez Hills Winery, one of the two Prichard's Distillery, a gift shop, and a cafe. The main house has 27,000 sq ft of space, and is three stories with more than 20 rooms. Including 13 bathrooms, five fireplaces, two separate kitchens, and an indoor pool, with a dance floor. There is even an indoor shooting range. The Fontanel Mansion is one of the largest log cabins in the world. This takes ‘cabin in the woods’ to a whole new meaning.

Charming Cabin Or Monstrous Mansion

Nestled deep in the woods and surrounded by lush nature, the Fontanel Mansion is a nice mix of mansion, log cabin, and amphitheater.

Rolling lawns, brick steps, curved glass roof, and an arched log walkway are just some of the features that make the Fontanel Mansion a magical place.

The interior of the Fontanel Mansion is just what you would imagine from the exterior. There is a Juliet balcony made completely of logs, light hardwood floors, a wood burning fireplace, and an arched ceiling. Being that this home was built for country music icon Barbara Mandrell, it's also no surprise that there is a piano and guitar located in this room.

Inside this room you have another log style Juliet balcony underneath spiral stairs. The string lights draped from the ceilings and guitars strapped to the walls make it so that this room really comes alive at night.
