The musical game show Beat Shazam has a new host this season. The actor and comedian Nick Cannon will take the helm for a few episodes while star Jamie Foxx recovers from the medical complication that led to his hospitalization in early May. According to the network, Corinne Foxx, the singer-actress' daughter and DJ on the Fox show, will also be opting out of this season while her father recovers from what's been described as a "medical emergency."
The game, which pits teams of two against one another (and the clock) to identify songs, has been filmed in Los Angeles, California since its first season. The show is filmed at CBS Television City, which is a state-of-the-art studio complex that features a number of sound stages. Located in the heart of Los Angeles, it's within walking distance of countless shopping and dining options.
Beat Shazam is created by Jeff Apploff and Wes Kauble. It's produced by Apploff Entertainment, MGM Alternative Television and Bigger Stage in association with Shazam. Mark Burnett, Barry Poznick, Lauren Zalaznick, Sean O'Riordan and Foxx serve as executive producers.
To be eligible to appear on the show, contestants must be 18 years old or older and be a legal resident or citizen of the United States. The producers also recommend that prospective participants upload videos of themselves, which will be reviewed by the producers. Anyone who meets these requirements can apply to be a contestant on Beat Shazam by filling out this form.
