The popular ITV medical drama Doc Martin has captivated viewers with its grumpy hero, and stunning Cornish locations. The series, starring Martin Clunes as Dr Martin Ellingham, is filmed in the small coastal village of Portwenn in north Cornwall. Among the many iconic filming locations, you can visit Fern Cottage, which serves as the GP’s surgery in the show.

The villagers of Portwenn don’t know what to make of the cranky London doctor when he moves into their quaint village. He’s irritable, stiff, and has a brusque bedside manner. It’s the setting for Mrs Tishell’s unrequited love confession to the grouchy GP. It’s also where the doc raced to save her from an accident in his fishing boat.
