Home and Away is one of Australia’s most popular Soap Operas. It’s been sold to more than 80 countries around the world making it one of the most successful Australian media exports. The windswept continuing drama debuted in 1988 and has been broadcast Monday to Thursday for over two decades. The show follows the adventures of the residents of Summer Bay, a fictional beach town created for the show.
The main outdoor filming location for Home and Away is Palm Beach located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches District. The exterior shots for the show have been filmed there since the beginning of the program in 1988. Some of the indoor shots are filmed in studios at the Australian Technology Park in Redfern while others are shot at locations around the area.
There are several tours that allow fans to visit the main exterior filming locations of Home and Away. The most popular tour is the “Filming Very Likely” tour that runs on Monday and Tuesday throughout the year (some exceptions apply). During this tour, you’ll get to see the main outdoor filming locations such as the Summer Bay Surf Club where Alf Stewart operates his Bait shop.
The tour also includes visits to the main outdoor locations such as the Pier Diner and the Summer Bay caravan park. If you’re lucky, you may even be able to spot your favorite actor or actress while visiting the set. The tour is a great option for fans of the show but it’s also perfect for tourists who want to enjoy the beautiful Northern Beaches of Sydney.
