Where is Inside Man Filmed?

The BBC’s new thriller starring Stanley Tucci and David Tennant, titled Inside Man, premiered last Monday night (October 31 2022). The show follows the paths of a prisoner on death row, a vicar in a small English village, and a maths teacher. Their lives are mysteriously interlinked, as the gripping narrative unfolds.

While the majority of the series was filmed at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn Navy Yard, a handful of interiors were filmed at various locations across England, including in Wokingham and Farnborough. The latter is where the infamous bank heist scenes took place, with a former branch of Manhattan Trust Bank used as a stand-in for the fictional Wall Street branch.

A number of exterior scenes also took place at a variety of sites, with the most notable being on Broad Street in Wokingham and in the town of Godalming. The town centre was closed off for the filming of some scenes, and local businesses were forced to close for the duration. In addition, a number of Surrey locations were used, including St Andrew’s Church on Upper Church Lane and Bourne Woods on Lower Bourne. The Beehive pub in Feltham and 333 Staines Road were also used for filming.

Similarly, the main lobby of San Francisco’s City Hall was a key location for a couple of shots in the second episode, Bicentennial Man. However, heat from two 10,000-Watt spotlights that were used to light the scene ended up triggering the sprinkler system and significant damage was caused.
