One of the most popular reality shows these days is Moonshiners. It’s a show that takes a look at people who make moonshine for a living, a business that is illegal in many states. The show has also spawned multiple spin-offs, such as Smoke Ring and Whiskey Business. In addition to its popularity, many people have been curious about where is master distiller filmed.
The Discovery Channel series is filmed in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The area is home to several major distilleries, including Ole Smoky Moonshine, Sugarlands Distilling Company, and Thunder Road Moonshine Company. This makes it a prime location for the competition. Each episode of the show features three moonshiners competing to craft a spirit for the judges. They are challenged to create whiskey, rum, gin, brandy and more. The winner is awarded a title of master distiller.
While the original Moonshiners was filmed in the Appalachian Mountains, Master Distiller is filmed in Gatlinburg. The competition show first launched in 2020 and is now in its third season.
