The Family Channel’s Ruby and the Well is filming in Cambridge. The series is based on the premise of 14 year old Ruby O’Reilly who inherits a moss covered well on her dad’s property which mysteriously starts communicating with her. Each time she visits the well cryptic visions are given to her that correspond with the innermost hopes and dreams of people in the small town of Emerald. Ruby, along with her new best friends Mina and Sam (Lina Sennia and Dylan Kingwell) tries to decipher the wishes and do what they can to fulfill them.
After a few of her latest wishes result in tragedy Ruby realizes that she may need to get help if she wants to keep granting wishes and stay alive. She enlists her well-meaning neighbors Jo and Daniel to help her figure out how to solve the visions and fulfill the wishes. But the group soon discovers that not everyone in town is happy to have them around and may want to stop them before it’s too late.
The show’s creators, Brian and LeeAnne Adams, also worked on BYUtv’s comedy adventure series Dwight in Shining Armor. They are known for writing and creating kids and family television in the animation, live-action and digital spaces and as advocates of diversity in the industry so that all children can see themselves on screen. The series is executive produced by Suzanne Bolch and John May who have a long track record of making kids and family TV in both the animated and live action genres.
