Shark Tank is one of the most popular reality TV shows on ABC. It follows entrepreneurs who pitch products or business ideas to a panel of investors known as the Sharks. Typically, the Sharks are investors in start-ups who are looking to expand their portfolio. The Sharks are Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec, and Daymond John. The show also features guest Sharks who often have a lot to offer in terms of expertise and connections.
The show usually shoots at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Season 12 was filmed at The Venetian in Las Vegas. This was a smart decision since Nevada and Las Vegas were less affected by the virus than Los Angeles. During filming, both the cast and the entrepreneurs who came to pitch their businesses were constantly tested for the virus. The crew also deployed quarantine production bubbles to ensure that everyone stayed at the proper distance from each other.
Many people assume that the pitch room on the show looks like a fancy office in a high-rise skyscraper, but that's not actually the case. It's actually a first-floor soundstage in the studio. The doors slide open and the contestants walk down a hallway (that you'll be relieved to know isn't nearly as long as it appears on TV). Once they reach the "X" at the end of the hallway, they stop and stand silently for the camera.
