Where is Shark Week Filmed?

October 29, 2023

The wildly popular Discovery Channel series Shark Week celebrates the ocean beasts every summer, and each year they take viewers to various beaches and seas to document their findings. Some locations are more famous for being the shark capitals of the world, like Florida’s infamous Frying Pan Tower, while others might be more surprising—like New Zealand, which boasts a high population of Tiger Sharks that can grow to be 25 feet long.

New Zealand’s pristine and clear waters are also home to a lot of surfers, so it’s not too surprising that the country is often featured in Shark Week. The show’s most recent episode followed a surfing legend who survived being attacked by two sharks while filming a documentary.

But the country isn’t just known for its sharks—it’s also got some very impressive scenery. This video shows how breathtaking the cliffs and beaches are in the country, as well as some of the local wildlife that calls the place home.

Another location that frequently appears on Shark Week is Cape Cod, which is home to a lot of sharks as well as plenty of tourists looking for a thrill on the beach. The show follows scientists trying to protect an animal that is feared and exploited in the current times, with some even facing extinction due to overfishing. The show also tries to educate people about the predatory nature of sharks while promoting conservation efforts.
