Where is Woman of the Dead Filmed?

The Netflix series Woman of the Dead, which is also known as Totenfrau, is a dark thriller with spectacular scenery and a lead character with some interesting personality quirks. The show was based on the novel by Bernhard Aichner and it was adapted for Netflix by Barbara Stepansky, Benito Mueller, and Wolfgang Mueller. It stars Brunhilde Blum, who owns a funeral home in an idyllic ski town and is the mother of two young children. She is shaken to the core when she witnesses her husband's death in what seems like an accident, but she quickly learns that he was murdered to keep some terrible secrets secret.

The majority of the filming for the show took place in Austria. Principal shooting began in April 2021 and wrapped up in July 2021. Some of the main locations used include Tyrol and Vienna. For example, the hotel Riml at Hochgurglerstrasse 16, 6456 Gurgl doubled for the Hotel Schonborn in the first season of the series. The funeral scenes were recorded in Sellrain and the snowy mountain scenes were shot in the ski area of Kuhtai. Several other locations were used for various shoots including the Market town of Reutte and the winter sports village of Reutte.

During the multiple seasons of Fear the Walking Dead filmed in Austin, one of the most memorable scenes was when Naomi (Elfman) visits an abandoned FEMA Safe Zone to retrieve medical supplies. The actual location was the Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex in downtown Bartlett. The same location is also used in the Woman of the Dead series when Naomi and her group are stranded in an empty mall after the massacre.
