In a time where on-location filming is more popular than ever before, it’s no secret that Netflix’s Young Royals was shot at several different locations. While some shows may film in a studio, others require on-location settings to give viewers the real feel of the storyline and characters. And one of the most popular teen-based shows on Netflix, Young Royals certainly falls into that category.
The show revolves around Prince Wilhelm and his struggle to find his identity at a prestigious boarding school in Sweden. Most of the action takes place at Hillerska, a fictional school that was designed to emulate the lifestyle of royalty.
Much of the show is filmed in Kaggeholms slott, which serves as the main location for Hillerska. The manor-style building and its sprawling grounds, complete with fountains, were used to represent the fictional school. It also served as the home of the non-residential students in the show, Simon and Sara.
Other scenes from the show were filmed in Stenhamra and Trakvistavallen. The football team’s scenes were filmed in Stenhamra, while the equestrian scenes took place in Trakvistavallen. The show’s beautiful scenery and on-location setting helps to make it a believable series for viewers.
The second season of Young Royals has already begun filming in Sweden. Netflix announced the start of production via a BTS video featuring the cast. The cast for the new season includes Edvin Ryding as Prince Wilhelm, Malte Gardinger as August of Arnas, Omar Rudberg as Simon Eriksson, and Frida Argento as his sister Sara. Inti Zamora Sobrado, Beri Gerwise, Nikita Uggla, and Pernilla August round out the supporting cast.
