Day started his career in acting by joining the Merrimack College theater company known as The Onstagers and he also performed in several stage productions before making his television debut in 2000 with the role of mailroom worker in the TV movie Mary and Rhonda. Day's big-screen performances include roles in the films The Hollars, Vacation, and the upcoming Hotel Artemis. He also provided the voice of spacemen Benny in Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's brilliant 2014 film The Lego Movie and its sequel, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, which has collected over $660 million worldwide at the box office. He also starred in the comedy Fist Fight with Ice Cube and the action-adventure Pacific Rim as the bad guy Hank Kahn.
