Argentinian-American reality television star, entrepreneur and tattoo artist Katherine Von Drachenberg is known for her work on the TLC shows Miami Ink and LA Ink. She is also a model and author with a thriving beauty brand. Von D has a large following on social media and is able to draw in crowds for her events and appearances.
Kat Von D was born on March 8th, 1982 in Montemorelos, Nueva Leon, Mexico and grew up as a Seventh-Day Adventist. Her mother is Argentinian and her father is American. At the age of six, she moved with her family to Colton California where she started playing the piano and became interested in music. At the age of 14, she got her first tattoo and two years later she dropped out of school to become a full-time tattoo artist.
In 2007, she opened her High Voltage Tattoo studio in West Hollywood and became a cast member on the hit TLC show LA Ink where she was a regular for four seasons. She has a number of celebrity clients including Travis Barker, Sebastian Bach and Jenni Falconer. She has also broken the Guinness World Record for tattooing the most people in a day by tattooing 400 people.
In 2008, she launched her makeup line that was sold in Sephora under the name KVD. In 2020, she sold her cosmetics company to Kendo Brands. In the same year, she narrated the film Dominion alongside Rooney Mara, Sia and Joaquin Phoenix. She currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband Rafael Reyes and son Leafar Von D Reyes.
