In case you haven’t been living under a rock, Love Island is back for its 10th series. Since its debut in 2015, the British reality show has become a phenomenon in both the U.K. and internationally. It follows a group of single men and women referred to as Islanders who live together in a villa in Mallorca, constantly under video surveillance. Contestants pair up based on first impressions and are forced to "re-couple" throughout the duration of the series. The winning couple takes home a prize of PS50,000.
In addition to couples being sent on dates outside the villa, there are also a variety of games and challenges to take part in to test each person's physical and mental abilities. The Islanders are also given a chance to compete against each other by taking part in weekly challenges, which can lead to some of the most dramatic scenes in the show's history.
While the format of the show has changed over the years, the villa remains the same. The 2022 summer season was filmed at the same location as this year’s winter series, while Laura Whitmore stepped down as host and Maya Jama took over for the new series in 2023.
The winter villa is located in Franschhoek, South Africa, and features a luxurious property that’s perfect for the chilly climate. It’s been decorated in the trademark Love Island style, including the signature pool and the popular “hideaway” room.
