Where is Big Sky River Filmed?

If you’re a fan of the hit ABC drama series Big Sky River, you might be wondering where was it filmed? The show has a lot of Montana-inspired scenery, but it actually wasn’t filmed in the state. The show was filmed in Canada, a favorite filming location for lots of Hollywood productions.

According to a report by the Agassiz Harrison Observer, many of the movie’s scenes were shot in the city of Agassiz in British Columbia, Canada. This tiny town is surrounded by mountains, lakes, and the great Fraser River. This made it the perfect place to mimic the fictional setting of Parable County, Montana in the film. During the production of Big Sky River, the town’s Aberdeen building was transformed into the Parable Country sheriff’s office for a few days. The filming took place in June of 2022 and was completed within the estimated timeline.

In addition to the city of Agassiz, some of the filming was also done at various locations in nearby Fraser Valley. The Hatzic Prairie Market from the first episode was filmed at 10814 Farms Road in Fraser Valley, and the sheriff’s office from the third episode was filmed at the Fort Langley Community Hall on Stave Lake Road.

Another spot you may have seen in the show is the Baca Ranch on NM 313 in Algodones, New Mexico. The ranch has appeared on a number of TV shows and movies, including Breaking Bad, The Irishman, and The Hateful Eight.
