Chicago is home to several popular television shows, including NBC’s three dramas about first responders. Each show offers a fictional look at what life is like for police, fire, and medical personnel in one of America’s biggest cities. While the shows may not be exactly accurate in terms of the actual work of these public safety professionals, they do get a lot right when it comes to the setting. In fact, a lot of the city’s landmarks and neighborhoods appear on screen.
Where Is Chicago Pd Filmed
The spinoff of NBC’s popular Chicago Fire and Chicago Med revolves around the fictional 21st District of the city’s police department. The series follows two groups: the uniformed cops who patrol the streets and deal with petty crime, and the Intelligence Unit led by Detective Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe).
Some scenes of the TV series are filmed on location in real-life Chicago locations. For instance, the police station on the show is the UIC Police Headquarters at 943 W. Maxwell Street, and while you can’t stroll inside the building, the exterior is a nice backdrop for a selfie. The station is also just around the corner from the firehouse used on Chicago Fire.
In addition to the police and fire stations, some of the other locations featured on the shows include Lottie’s Pub at 1924 W. Cortland Street in the Bucktown neighborhood, which is where many of the show’s hard-working police and firefighters hang out. And while the bar is no longer a location for filming, it still serves up beers and burgers to fans who want to feel like they’re on set.
