Hello Tomorrow is a retro-futuristic comedy that follows a wandering sales team hawking lunar timeshares. The series stars Billy Crudup as Jack, a smart and driven huckster with unwavering faith in the future who uplifts his colleagues and lures desperate customers into believing that they’ll soon live on the moon.
In a world of whirring robot cogs and soaring spaceships, the show’s production design makes its universe convincingly cohere. It’s understandable as a childlike fantasy from a time when inhabiting the moon’s sea of serenity seemed more plausible than wifi.
However, the show isn’t without its problems. It’s a bit too glib about the intractable issues it addresses, and it fails to see its characters as more than desperate strivers.
Regardless, Hello Tomorrow is still a fun and compelling sci-fi series to watch. But where was it filmed? Here’s a look at the filming locations of this new Apple TV+ hit.
Hello Tomorrow was primarily filmed in the state of New York, with the five boroughs providing the primary backdrop for scenes in the fictional future. The New York City area offers a wealth of iconic landmarks, including the Empire State Building, Central Park, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The production crew and cast also filmed many sequences around the borough of Long Island, which is located in the southeastern portion of the United States.
The principal photography for Hello Tomorrow began in October 2021, under the working title “Brightside,” and wrapped up in March of 2022, after over five months of filming. The production team then screened the first three episodes in Los Angeles for their friends and family members before the official premiere on March 10.
