While you might have seen the hit USA network show Royal Pains on television, you may not know where it was filmed. From the grandeur of Oheka Castle in Huntington to the picturesque village streets and beautiful beaches of Southampton and Montauk, Long Island has a lot to offer the show’s cast and crew.
The series follows Manhattan physician Hank Lawson (Mark Feuerstein) who moves to the Hamptons with his brother Evan after losing a fortune fighting for the life of one of their patients. He joins a wealthy community of Hamptons locals where he treats the rich and the less fortunate.
When the show is not filming in HankMed’s palatial office, it takes to the streets of the Hamptons and other Long Island locations. The cast often scouts for locations that are not only beautiful, but that also capture the essence of the show’s characters.
On a recent day, cast and crew members were shooting a scene for the series at a modern-luxury Hamptons home overlooking the breaking surf. Hank, played by actor Mark Feuerstein, ran along the beach-fitting for his role as a concierge doctor catering to the wealthy.
Onlookers could see yellow signs with arrows and the letters “RP” posted on utility poles to help guide the production to staging areas and filming locations around town. The production will be filming again in the village on Tuesday and Wednesday and at Hamptons Arts Center on Jobs Lane.
