The new Netflix show captures interior designer Melanie Rose’s efforts to help couples spice up their lives with sex-positive home renovations. But where is sex room filmed? This R-rated series, produced by Denver-based High Noon Entertainment, filmed its first eight-episode season in the Denver metro area.
Producers initially scoured the country for filming locations, but landed on Denver because it offered the best mix of people and interests. From bondage workshops at Studio Friction, to sex toys from Awakening, and intimate boudoir photography at TADAM, this city is full of kinky and fun novelties for the couples featured on the show.
In one episode, Rose consults with Meghan and Dave, a couple whose small bedroom was too constrained to accommodate their varied needs. Ultimately, she talks them into a sex shed on their five-acre property that’s packed to the brim with custom leather sex swings (sourced from Colorado Saddlery) and a hot tub to give them a place to explore each other.
In another episode, Rose works with the Fambam polycule on a sex toy closet for their seven-member household. The Denver-based team sourced many of the Fambam’s accessories from local stores, but some items were purchased online, including a snake pit and an electric wand, which are available for purchase in the UK and Canada through Amazon. Fambam member Nate Tudum explains that while Denver has a “great community in terms of kink and ethical non-monogamy,” they’re still working to get more LGBTQ-friendly businesses on board.
