After the UK version of The Traitors became a bit of a sensation over Christmas, it was only a matter of time before the US got its own take on the treacherous game show. Hosted by Scottish actor Alan Cumming, the American version of the show, filmed in the Scottish Highlands, sees 22 strangers shut into a castle where they must weed out traitors and complete a series of missions to bolster a prize pot worth up to PS120,000.
Based on Dutch series De Verraders, The Traitors essentially splits players into two groups: The Faithful and The Traitors. The Faithful must work out which members of the group are the Traitors, and banish them from the castle if they think they're the one responsible for "murdering" one of their own every night. If the Faithful can rumble all of the Traitors, they'll take home the prize money – but if they fail to do so and one of the traitors slips through the cracks, they will win the grand prize of up to £120,000.
The series was filmed at Ardross Castle, a 19th century Scottish baronial castle around 25 miles north of Inverness, which is set within gardens and over 100 acres of parkland on the banks of the River Alness. While it's not open to the public for a casual visit, Ardross Castle can be hired out for private parties and corporate events.
