WWE NXT has been filmed at Full Sail University since 2012. In addition to the regular NXT tapings, the school also hosts a variety of other WWE events such as Tough Enough, the Mae Young Classic and the Cruiserweight Classic. The presence of a major professional wrestling show at Full Sail provides students with real-world opportunities to gain hands-on experience in various production positions, and proceeds from NXT merchandise and ticket sales go toward a scholarship fund for the university’s students.
The NXT Live venue is an ideal location for filming the shows due to its state-of-the-art setup, which allows fans to be part of the action in a unique way. The venue has LED screens all around the ring and an arena floor that is raised to provide fans with an up-close look at the action. It is a truly immersive experience for both fans and wrestlers, and it adds to the energy of the shows.
While NXT has a reputation for producing some of the best talent in the WWE, the fact is that many of its stars don’t last long on the main roster. In fact, many of the NXT call-ups end up being sent back to NXT or even fired altogether. The ones that do make the transition are usually the more talented talents or those who have a great outside mic skills.
This year, it was announced that NXT would be moving from Full Sail to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando for the foreseeable future. That move is expected to begin with this Sunday’s TakeOver event. The Black-and-Gold brand will be rebranded as NXT 2.0, and it will have a new set design that includes multicolored LED screens.
