Payton Randolph was a planter and politician. He was born in Williamsburg, Virginia, on September 10, 1721, to his parents, Sir John Randolph and Susana Beverley. Best known as the first and third President of the Continental Congress, Mr. Peyton originally belonged to a wealthy family. Furthermore, from 1766 to 1775, he was also the speaker of the Virginia House of Burgesses. The renowned politician and planter died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October 22, 1775. It has three structures. These are attached to hallways and walls. William Robertson originally constructed it. Peyton's father, Sir John Randolph, purchased it around 1724. Along with this, he also bought a lot for a second house. Peyton joined both the houses together by erecting the middle portion. Furthermore, the architectural style of this home-turned-museum is Georgian. It has two stories. Moreover, it features a wood frame structure. Its interior presents the real eighteenth-century woodwork. There is a marble fireplace mantel as well. Grand central staircases are also the center of attraction. Additionally, the L-shaped house is now serving as a museum. It remained Peyton Randolph's home for over fifty years.
