The dwelling was designed and built from 1945 to 1951. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was its architect. He was a German-American architect and was simply known as Mies. She wanted a weekend retreat. So, she bought the land from Colonel McCormick.

It's a pretty home in International architectural style, beautifully made with steel and glass. It's rectangular and consists of only one story. Furthermore, the residence has enough living space, a patio, and a small kitchen area. The kitchen is visible from the outside because of the glass walls.
