7 Must-Have Features All Celebs Want in Their Million-Dollar Homes

May 14, 2024

Let’s face it. Celebrities and other high-net-worth people can afford things that most people can’t. These deep-pocketed members of society might own multiple seven- or eight-figure homes with huge lots, well-manicured lawns, in-ground swimming pools, and luxurious amenities.

When celebs hire realtors to find their next palatial estate or mansion, they’re not just focused on square footage. There are certain must-have features on their wish lists.

Here are seven of them.

1. Elevators

If you think elevators are only for apartment buildings or condos, think again. High-net-worth people with homes spanning several stories can benefit. Getting around a home with tens of thousands of square footage takes more effort than one with several thousand square feet of space. An elevator can make sense by making it easier for residents to access the home more readily.

Elevators can also provide another way for people to enjoy the region’s majestic scenery.

2. Spa-Like Bathrooms

While the rich and famous might like going to upscale spas, they also want pampered experiences in their homes. So, you can bet they want bathrooms offering spa-like experiences. Such a bathroom can include deep soaking tubs, saunas, heated floors, and a massage table.

After returning home from a movie premiere or a red carpet gala, celebrities can head to their in-home spas to unwind. No celeb’s home is complete without one.

3. Indoor Swimming Pool

While there’s nothing wrong with an in-ground swimming pool outdoors, the uber-rich in society want private indoor swimming pools to enjoy splish-splashing in the water regardless of the weather. When you have a private indoor pool, you’ll enjoy a level of privacy not possible outdoors. It’s one of those features that rich folks want in their high-end residences.

4. Wellness Centers

Celebs want to look great or at least give the appearance that staying fit is vital, so a home wellness center is necessary. They want a space where they can lift weights, run on a treadmill, do stretches, and relax in a steam room.

5. Wine Cellar

Rich people with a taste for fine wine need wine cellars fit for wine connoisseurs. But having a wine cellar isn't enough. It's essential to have the right setup to properly store and preserve the wine. And the wine cellar should add to, rather than detract from, the overall aesthetic of the home.

6. Movie Room

Another amenity people with deep pockets look for is a movie room -- somewhere they can go to watch their favorite flicks with family and friends. These rooms look like miniature cinemas with comfy movie theater seats, popcorn machines, and -- of course -- movie screens.

7. Bay and Bow Windows

While celebs and other rich people want their privacy indoors, they also want lots of natural light filtering in through the windows. Two types of windows with aesthetic and functional appeal are bay windows and bow windows. They’re similar but not the same.

Bay and bow windows are different from other windows. They provide a comfortable space to read, listen to music, or meditate while enjoying the sunshine. Both bay and bow windows are created using various types of windows combined to make a curve that expands beyond your home's walls. Since these windows project beyond the walls of your home, there’s a space to sit.

The difference? While a bay window consists of three different windows with a picture window in the center and a double-hung or casement window on either side, a bow window has four or more windows usually consisting of picture windows that don't open.

Even if you can’t afford a palatial estate, bow and bay windows can boost the look of any home.

There are some of the things rich folks look for when buying or renting homes. However much your home is worth, you can add value by adding some things A-listers swear by.
