Dumpster Rental Delivery And Pickup: What To Expect From Local Providers

May 27, 2024

When it’s time to renovate your home, it’s easy to overlook how you’re going to deal with the junk generated by the project. A dumpster is an easy and efficient way to manage and remove large amounts of refuse.

Getting a dumpster from a local company is pretty straightforward. There are few, however, things you should keep in mind to make sure your rental goes as smoothly as possible.

Choosing a Local Dumpster Rental in Your Area

First you need to figure out what your waste management needs are for your project. Consider the size, scope, and duration of the work to help determine what size you’ll need. A good waste management company will guide you in choosing the right dumpster for your specific needs.

Get multiple quotes to compare pricing. Choose a company that charges based on bin space use to avoid paying for unused space.

The Dumpster Drop Off Process

Having your dumpster dropped off is simple and easy. Choose an area with a level surface and firm ground to prevent the bin from sinking. Make sure the drop-off area is clear. Move any items that might be in the way, such as bikes, low-hanging tree branches, or trash cans. Park any cars in a garage or further down the street.

Try to be on-site during your delivery to prevent any confusion and secure any permits before your delivery date.

Picking Up Your Dumpster

Dumpster removal, while pretty simple, has a bit more to it than delivery. There are two ways your local dumpster rentals in my area will set your pickup date.

  1. Your rental contract will be for a fixed term and will include a pickup date.
  2. It’s your responsibility as a renter to call the rental company when you’re ready to remove the bin.

Either option is fine (if you remember to call the company to schedule your pickup) and the removal process will be the same no matter which you choose.

The first thing the driver will do is determine how much material is in the dumpster. If you’re paying based on dumpster use, the driver will take a closer look to determine how much you’ll be charged for the rental.

Be careful not to overfill a dumpster. If refuse is piled too high, the driver can’t safely load the bin onto the rig or legally drive on public roads. Load bulky, heavy objects on the bottom and break down large containers to reduce how much space they take up. And be careful loading dense items such as appliances or masonry. You’ll need to remove refuse if the dumpster is too heavy for the truck.

If your dumpster isn’t overfilled, the driver will load it up and drive it away. All that’s left at this point is to pay your final invoice.

Dumpster rental is the ideal way to manage and remove refuse from large projects such as construction and renovation. And with correct planning and preparation, your rental will be a breeze with frictionless pickup and dropoff.
