Early Life and Background

Born on August 20, 1948, in West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England, Robert Plant grew up in Worcestershire where he developed an early interest in singing and music. After leaving school, he briefly trained as a chartered accountant before wholly committing to his music career. Early musical pursuits included playing in various bands, such as the Crawling King Snakes, which eventually led to his collaboration with John Bonham and subsequently the formation of Led Zeppelin.

Personal Life

Robert Plant married Maureen Wilson in 1968, and they had three children: Carmen (1968), Karac (1972), and Logan (1979). Tragically, his son Karac passed away from a stomach virus in 1977. Plant sustained serious injuries in a car accident in Greece in 1975. From 2010 to 2014, he was in a relationship with singer-songwriter Patty Griffin. A lifelong fan of Wolverhampton Wanderers football club, Plant was named Vice-President of the club in 2009.
